Tea Science (SmallWisdoms – 2)

Tea Laboratory

For the cup to be perfect it has to have the exact count of tea leaves, exact count of brown sugar grains, and exact proportion of milk – neither less nor more.

Certain days when unknown to me fairies are floating around the place, I touch the sweet spot – on others, it’s a broad or narrow miss.

But.

This only intermittent success at perfection is what makes it a daily energizing adventure.

When it’s just so, I go….Ahaaaa

When it’s less than that, I look forward to another blue-sky’d day.

The point is – the fact that perfection is as elusive as the gossamer edge of a fairy’s wing, and touched only once in a while, is what makes life and everything about it – really interesting.

  1. LOL. You remind me of George Orwell’s “A Nice Cup Of Tea”. By the way, I love your picture of the glass tea pot and glass tea cup. The transparency let me enjoy the tea even more. Some prefer the traditional porcelain, but I am a fan of glass.

    1. Wow. My little piece reminding you of Orwell’s essay. Never thought that possibleπŸ˜„
Agree about the pic. It’s lovely! Porcelain is in its place but give me my glass tea cup or mug anytime, with my fav brew

      1. Yes, I am not saying I agree with Orwell’s scribble since his tea brewing method is vastly different from mine. I guess tea science is in the eyes of beholders.

  2. When it does end up perfect, is it the makers success?
Or is it just chance anyway?
Why strive for that which is so elusive,
When you can always have an Earl Grey.

    1. πŸ˜„Haha.
As for success, it is I suppose the Maker’s success! Pleased at the persistent striving He/She grants it now and then. That’s the only explanation for something so inscrutable
PS: And yes on the odd day I do enjoy the simplified Earl Grey

  3. Great topic πŸ‘πŸ˜„. The specific situation described here sounds alot like baking, just a few grams over the recommended amount of butter or flour needed, and the whole process is ruined hahaha. It’s a very very delicate balance to get it just right, but the reason why we go through all of that trouble for the right result is because it’s SO GOOD lol
